About Nederlandse Hout Coating

Paint application specialist Nederlandse Hout Coating, located in Oldenzaal in Overijssel, preserves, primes and varnishes garden and facade wood for the professional building materials sector and timber trade. In the early years, these were mainly batches of custom wood supplied by the customer, but now the company is increasingly supplying a total product thus unburdening its customers. “Currently we mainly focus on the Dutch market, but it is our wish to also start exporting to Germany and Belgium” – Keath Alkoutobi, founder/owner of Nederlandse Hout Coating.

Factoring helps to increase our market share

Nederlandse Hout Coating started its activities in January 2010 and moved in 2019 to the current location, the site and the buildings of a former sawmill. There, the company not only had more space at its disposal, but also suitable storage sheds suitable for drying wood for further processing and for storage of products awaiting delivery. “We were also able to easily realize a climate-controlled room at this location, which is required for the paint shop activities, in order to guarantee constant quality”.

Due to these factors, such as the need for sufficient storage space and investments, there was an increased need for working capital.

Challenge

The company philosophy is 'short lines and flexibility', in order to be able to respond quickly and effectively to the wishes of the customer. The team of Nederlandse Hout Coating wants to be able to optimally focus on the actual production process, in order to deliver quality work from start to finish when making garden wood, facade cladding or wood for sawmills more sustainable. In this way, the company wants to further increase its market share step by step, with the ultimate goal of also taking the step across the border to the Belgian and German markets. Expansion requires working capital and with a good cash flow in combination with good business operations, you gradually build that up as a company. Nederlandse Hout Coating itself has a direct influence on its business operations, but as far as cash flow is concerned, the company depends on the payment behavior of the customer. Choosing factoring to steer payment behavior is a good option, but the factoring company must fit in with your own company, which initially turned out to be not entirely optimal.

Solution

When the contract with the former factoring company expired, Nederlandse Hout Coating started to orientate itself on the market. “One of our own advisors drew our attention to Boozt24 and their up-to-date platform”, explains Keath, “Because we were already familiar with factoring, online consultation was sufficient to see that Boozt24 could optimally unburden us in terms of factoring and debtor monitoring.” At the beginning of December 2022, Nederlandse Hout Coating made the switch to Boozt24. Boozt24's software is experienced by the company as very accessible. Gradually, Nederlandse Hout Coating wants to link its own accounting system to the platform software, but first wants to fine-tune this further. After submitting an invoice, Nederlandse Hout Coating now has access to a large part of the invoice amount almost immediately, whereby the platform takes care of debtor monitoring. If an invoice threatens to be paid too late by a customer, it will receive reminders from the platform; Nederlandse Hout Coating always maintains control and can always decide to buy back 'problem' invoices after a certain period and to take action itself towards the relevant customer in order to maintain the payout percentage and thus the cash flow.
